Not much happening this weekend. I have spent my time doing household chores and finishing the scottie quilt. Here is a picture of a quilt I made a few years ago. It is a baby quilt, alphabet is from my embroidery machine then pieced. This is quilted on my sewing machine, it was done before the longarm purchase. I am saving it for when I have a grandchild, which will probably be very far of in the future. It may even be an antique quilt by then.

While quilting on the scottie dog quilt today, listening to the radio, there was a report this is the Chinese New Year. The year of the dog. What a great time to be working on a dog quilt. Coincidence? I also found out I am a dog. I was born in the year of the dog many many moons ago. Quite interesting.

I will get back to quilting. I wanted to get a post done while I was taking a break. Hubby is cooking tonight, hamburgers are on the menu. They should be good. Have a great evening.

As I noted in my comment to Laurie Ann at Quilting Rush blog I would post a picture of an quilt I made for my friend as she recovered from breast cancer. She is still struggling with cancer, she will be on meds the rest of her life, but she is doing well. Her favorite rock band is U2 so I made her a U2 quilt. It is just 3.5 inch squares with the U2 in black squares and the rest of the quilt in all colors. I made the quilt so which direction she used the quilt it would have U2 in the right direction and one upside down. She loves this quilt and uses it often when she is having a bad day.

Busy day at work today. We were two employees short so it made more for the rest of us but we made it through. I am going to sew for a few minutes than exercise. I look forward to Friday when I will be home all day so I will have more time to quilt. Bills need to be paid, I wasn't born rich and didn't marry a rich man, but very content with my life. If all I did was quilt I might get tired of that also. Have a good evening.

Here it is. This is the Christmas quilt all finished and has been on the bed. It is very warm and comfy. As you can see I did not have enough of some fabric to complete rows and didn't pay attention to how the rows were coming out but that adds to the charm. The pattern I used had numerous dark and lights, I wanted Christmas so I used red, green, beige. I had to figure out the strips of the red /green as I was quilting. This is the results.
Here are a couple photos of the back of the quilt. I used some of my Christmas fabric that I bought on sale after Christmas.
The quilt below is a quilt I made five years ago. I appliqued all the pumpkin faces. I cut the pumpkins out free hand along with the eyes, noses, and mouths. I really like this quilt and think it is my favorite. I love Halloween, and this is my Happy Jack quilt. I stays out all year on the couch. Starting to show some wear but it is a much loved quilt.
All my obligations are done for the week other than cleaning here and there and cooking dinner each night so now I can quilt. I will continue to work on my scottie dog quilt and maybe do some longarm on charity quilts. I look forward to seeing what others are working on. Have a great week end.

This a quilt that I just recently completed. I did paper piecing, a pattern I got off the internet. My friend wanted to know how to paper piece so we found instructions with this pattern. I believe it was at Yvonne.com, not positive but I think that was the site. It is supposed to be fish, hence the blue back ground. After I pieced the first fish, it really did not look like a fish to me, more like a pointed mushroom. I thought maybe it was the fabric scraps I used so I tried another, guess what same results. I didn't want to waste the paper patterns I had printed out so I completed the piecing, put the quilt together, using the blue as the back ground and named the quilt psychedelic mushrooms. I used scrapes and stash fabric for this quilt, so I am glad to have used up fabric. The quilting around the mushrooms is my first attempt at McTavishing. I think it turned out pretty good.

I am working on the nine patches for the scottie dog quilt. Today was my last work day for the week so I will have more time for quilting tomorrow. Bible Study in morning, errands after, then quilt until hubby comes home from work. Have a great day.

Well it has been a few days since I have blogged. I have been busy with bills, household duties, Bible study, work and oh yeah quilting. I finished the binding on the Christmas quilt and will post a picture as soon as I get one taken. I started quilting a charity quilt and the pattern is a bit more involved than I thought it would be so it is taking me a bit longer to quilt than expected.

I host a Bible study at my home on Friday mornings. It is fun, there are about 7 or 8 of us from my church that get together. We are finishing a study on The Real Story of Christmas and will decide on a new study next week.

This is a picture of a quilt I made last year. It is embroidered shoes that I did. I was going to give the quilt to charity but my daughter decided she wanted the quilt. Funny thing, she makes fun of all my quilting, how she has soooo many quilts because of me, but yet she is the first to take a quilt she likes. Go figure.

I hope everyone is having a good day. My machine is calling me, I will quilt for awhile then go grocery shopping, prepare dinner, and get ready for the new week.

Finn this one is for you. You spoke today in you blog of green and your love for green. My sister also loves green. She was envious of a quilt I made for her husband after his back surgery. (I had made him a recovery quilt.) My sister was giving me a hard time about the quilt, asking how many times she must injure herself to receive a quilt. I decided I would make her a quilt, using all different shades of green and this is what she got. I named the quilt, "Green with Envy". She loves the quilt. I myself like organe and have made myself one in orange.

( I didn't load the pictures centered so this is what we get today.)

I started woking on the scottie dog quilt yesterday. I will post pictures as I get further into the quilt. I must go make dinner. Have a great evening.

Well I did not get my quilting done on the Christmas quilt. It took longer with the errands and housework than I thought it would. Cleaning up after the Holidays and BCS bowls was more than I expected.

Our son prepared to go back to college yesterday also. I love the little fella but can that boy procrastinate. We finally went to dinner at 6:15 then had to race home, pick up his bags and get him to the airport by 7:30. As usual, time is on his side and all worked out well. We did not get home until after 8 pm.

This is a quilt I made last year. The pattern is from Fons and Porter quilting magazine, I used halloween fabric instead of the the fabric they had used. (I love the halloween colors therefore I will make a halloween quilt any chance I get. ) I thought it turned out really well.

Today I will finish the Christmas quilt. I have started preparing to make a Scottie Dog quilt. Haven't quite figured out how I want to do it but that is most likely my next project unless I get side tracked.

I hope and pray all have a great day.

Here is the first of my campfire quilts. I have plans for others but I have so many irons in the fire at this time. I am still working on the quilting of my Christmas quilt. I should finish it today if all goes well. I will trim and put binding on tomorrow then at some point sew the binding down while watching t.v.
This is a quilt I made using up scrapes of fabric. I made arcs, paper pieced the fabric on the arcs then sewed them togeather with white between. {As you can see} I was getting frustrated and didn't think the quilt would turn out that great so I got sloppy and now you can see colored threads and dark fabric showing through the white. I learned my lesson on this, any quilt can look ugly and as waste of time until quilted, then it most likely will look good. Oh well, it will make a good utility quilt, which most of mine are anyway.
This is a picture of the back of the quilt. I focused on working on my feathers. They are free hand. I once againg thought the quilt would turn out ugly so I did not do a very good job quilting the border of the quilt. Oh well practice and lesson learned. I need to work on my patience.

Time to run off to do my daily errands. Have a great Day

Not much today. No pictures. I worked, had to be there at 730 am so I leave at 600am. On Thursdays I work at Estacada Job Corp which is about a 90 mile round trip from my house. I like this job alot. I work with kids aged from 16-25, cleaning their teeth, teaching them how to take care of their teeth, and the improtance of oral hygiene. Most of these kids have never been to the dentist before. I have been here about 41/2 years.

Boo Hoo USC lost in the Rose Bowl. Oh well they had to loose at some point in time so why not make it at the granddaddy of all bowl games. Now they are ranked #2 behind Texas Longhorns. Could be a really good thing, this way the new quarterback will not inherit Matt Leinart's legacy and he can create his own. They did have a streak of 34 wins. All streaks come to end at some point. It was a very good game, especially if you were a Texas fan, but the Trojans played very well. They have no need to hang their heads, they played their hearts out. Enough of that.

I am off tomorrow so hopefully I will get a picture or two posted. Have a good evening.

Here is a picture of the Christmas quilt that I finished yesterday and started quilting. I am doing a candle in the beige snowflake material. It is my adaptation of a candle pantograph I saw on a website. I liked the idea of candles for the quilt but didn't want to do the whole quilt with candles. I also didn't want to wait to order the pantograph, so I decided to try and see what I could come up with. I hope you can see what is quilted. I need to work on my photography. I better get back to the quilting. Good Day.
Well here it is the 2nd day of 2006 and what do I have to say for myself. Not much. I spent the day quilting. I went to church, assisted the minister in the service, which was nice. We had our Christmas carol service, along with the passages of the birth of Christ. Christmas is such a short time with so many very nice Christian songs.
Once home I worked on a Christmas quilt, which I completed, have it on the longarm and have started quilting . I have decided to practice stitch in the ditch, quarter inch outline and free hand quilting. It is coming out okay. I know my quilting is getting better. I wonder how long till I can quilt like a pro.
I have done many quilts for charity, but still need lots of practice. I purchased a longarm quilting machine about a year ago with hopes of starting a business but there seems to be many longarm quilters in this area. I am a new small fish in the pond therefore I do quilting for myself and charity. I am not complaining but I would like to see some return so hubby doesn't seem so upset with the lack of productivity.
I work four days a week, make my payments, and enjoy quilting for charity and myself on the machine. I donated 16 quilts last year to Frontier Missions and hope to donate again in 2006. I have been busy working on what I call campfire quilts. We purchased land in Montana last August, eventually will build, until then we will be doing camping so I want quilts for around the campfire. When I get pictures of them I will post.
I grew up in Montana, love it, it is my heaven on earth, I am so excited about finally owning my little piece of Montana. Enough of that. Hope everyone is having a good New Year so far and I look forward to reading the blog postings through out the year.
