Here it is, the picture of the Scottie Dog quilt. It turned out much bigger than I thought it was going to. I put it on my queen size bed and it fit with about two inches over on each side. I would have to say probably about a full size quilt. I like my quilts to hang over and cover the sides of the mattress. I had a hard time with the side triangles. I did not figure my sizes right for the squares, therefore some the the points are not right. Oh well, I like it anyway, and I could always say this is just the way I planned it. Here is a close up of the quilting. I did McTavishing around the dog except under his feet, I did pebbles. I did spinny things in the nine patch. I don't know what they are called but it looks good. The boarders are quilted with puppy paws I saw in Quilt Maker Magazine. I like how this turned out.
I hope you enjoy looking at my latest accomplishment. I will go now to work on the next quilt. I am working on a motorcycle quilt. Once again, no pattern just making it up as I go along. Have a great day.

Happy Valentines Day to one and all. Here are a couple pictures of Valentine quilts I made. The first picture is the first one I made, it is baby quilt size. I made this quilt a couple years ago when we had a snow strom right before Valentine Day, it may have been after, but right in the time frame. I was stuck at home and decided to make a quilt for the month of February. This quilt is made with the same thought, only it is more like small twin size. I wanted a quilt to practice my echo stitching on and decided this would be a good pattern for that. I don't think it is Valentines day without conversation hearts, therefore I like the concept of these quilts. I donated 19 quitls to Frontier Missions and these were two of those quilts. I figured someone should be using them instead of them sitting in my closet.

I will have to make myself another one now that I look at them. A conversation heart quilt has less calories than the candies do. I did buy myself some hearts today. I just love those little candies.

My daughter and I used to play a game with them. We would each get five hearts and have to make a sentence with the hearts we choose. It was so much fun.

My children receive hearts form me each year, this year my son received conversation heart playing cards and my daughter conversation heart magnets. Oh the silly things I do on the little holidays, if that is what one could call them.

Well this is the front of my tote bag. It is my sawtooth star. I was actually surprised how well this went together. I did mess up on the binding but oh well, that will just go along with this tote bag that I am having a difficult time with. Here I am at the sewing group. What a nice group of ladies. I did not know anyone except Diane and I was very much welcomed by all the other ladies. This is a picture of Kathy and Nancy working on Kathy's tote. She really picked neat colors, purple and pink.

Here is Diane working on her tote. I really like her technique. She used prequilted fabric, serged the edges and went from there. It is really turning out nicely.

Here is my almost completed tote. I need to put the wood doweling in for the handles. I also added shoulder straps to mine. It did turn out much better than I expected, I can not say that I am totally satisfied with my sewing but what the heck, it's done!!!! I do think I will keep the pattern just in case I decide to try again.
I need to complete the floor of the tote, covering the fabric core board, and placing in the bottom of the tote, placing the dowelling in the casings and sewing shut. I will use the bag and be proud of my accomplishment. Have a great day.

Half way through the work week. What a busy week it has started out to be. I went way back into my archives for these two pictures. I made the the first quilt back in 1992 for my niece's baby gift. This is when I first started dabbling in quilting so I really don't call myself a quilter yet. I used a counted cross stitch kit that I had purchased, which was of Ten Little Indians, and put them together in this quilt. I hand quilted it, not really knowing what I was doing and don't think I really quilted it close enough. In 1996 another baby was due in the family so I decided to try again and maybe make it a little bit better. This is the design I came up with this time, very similar but yet a bit different. I again hand quilted this time a bit closer. This is when I decided hand quilting was not going to cut it for me, to time consuming . I put quilting on the back burner for awhile.
Not much else to write about. We have had sun for three days now and it is so nice. Boy does the sun ever make a difference in peoples demeanor. The patients have been so nice this week, the gray and rainy days can sure cause one to be a bit depressed. I will close for now. Have a great evening and I will post again in a few days.
