One More Border

My progress so far with the scrappy mountains. I really like how this quilt is turning out. I hope the person I have in mind likes it as much as I do. I will put one more dark brown border on the quilt and call it good. The way I figure it should complete at 77x92. That is a pretty good sized quilt, probably about a twin. I don't want it much bigger than that, just for a couch quilt or for taking a quick nap.
I must go now, I need to get ready for work . I hope everyone has a great day.

Coming along

Just a quick post of some of the progress on my pink/brown quilt. I like how it is coming along. I think this will be very nice. I probably should have stayed away from the darker vibrant pinks but they are a refreshing splash. Hope everyone had a great day.

Slow but steady

I have been working slowly on Scrappy Mountain Majesties, done in pinks and browns, since last week. This is a pattern from Quiltville, Bonnie Hunter's website. I have done a few patterns from this site and have enjoyed each of them. I have decided to make the quilt a bit bigger, instead of 64 squares I am using 100 (50 of each). I like to have my quilts a bit bigger and I am planning for this quilt to be a gift. I think it should finish off about twin size. I will post the completed dimensions when all is said and done. I will be busy this week-end so most likely won't get any posting done. I hope all have a wonderful week-end.

What a week

Well here is part of the after math of cleaning out my MIL apartment. My husband has been boxing and bagging the stuff, bringing it home and I have been sorting through, putting aside, and getting things ready for Goodwill. This is a pile of stuff I will take to Goodwill today. There are a few more boxes in the back bedroom. I know there will be more later but this is a healthy start. Fortunately she had to downsize through the past years so there is not as much as there could be.

I started working on a brown/pink quilt. I am following the Scrappy Mountain Majesties, from our beloved Bonnie's Quiltville site. I think it will turn our nicely.
I have started making this small table runner, (if you can call such a small item a runner), for her birthday. I have to just quilt it. I need it done by Tuesday which should not be a problem.

I have also started quilting on my first quilt for an hour quilt that Judy posted. Her quilts have been so much fun to make. I really like her instructions, they are very precise and easy to follow. I hope she continues with this after she is all settled into her new digs. She has been very busy with the move. I have decided to do baptist fans. My first time I have tried this with my Hartley fence. I think it is going along okay. I have a terrible habit of being to hard on myself.
As you can see I have been keeping very busy. I will get back to work next week. Life will return to normal, my house will bet cleared out and clean. Have a great week-end. I did finish the binding on my Gratitude's quilt and will post a picture when I can get one.
One last thing, today is my anniversary on quiting smoking. I have not smoked for 20 years today. I can not say I don't miss it, I do!!! I have come to the conclusion that I will start smoking again if I am diagnosed with a terminal illness or turn 95. I have informed my daughter that on my 95th birthday she can buy me a pack of cigarettes for my birthday present.

Moving On

This is the car my husband left me with this morning to go to work. We both decided yesterday it was time to go back to work and move on. We spent the day yesterday taking care of much of the business aspects of death and cleaning in MILs appartment, but decided we needed to get on with normal life as soon as possible. Soooooooooooo he decided to drive my truck to work today with the intent of stopping by the apartment on his way home and bringing a load of stuff home today. Well when he left at 4:15 this was not going on. When I left for work at 6:45 I didn't expect this either. It was a dusting of snow but kept coming down harder and harder as I drove. I made it to work alright, saw one patient, then we canceled the rest of the day. I had a harder time getting home. I spun out quite a few times, drove very very slow and arrived home just fine. I don't think this car was really designed for snow driving, maybe if chains could be put on but I don't think they would fit in the wheel wells. Oh well, the important thing is I am home safe and plan to sew and do house work. I do enjoy looking at the snow.

Here is a picture of the completed Christmas Gratitude's quilt. It turned out quite big, 113 x 96.5. I think this is about the largest quilt I have ever made. I think if I were to do it again, which I probably won't, I would make it 16 blocks(placed 4 across and 4 down) instead of 20 like I did. The measurements would be 96.5x96.5 then which would be more reasonable to me. It will look good on the bed and I will be able to tuck the pillows under the quilt when I make the bed. I do like the outcome, not complaining, just commenting. Have a great day and I pray everyone getting hit but the bad weather on the east of us is safe and sound.
I want to send out a blanket THANK-YOU to each and everyone who prayed for our family during our time of a family death. I could never express in words how heart felt that was to me. Thank-you one and all.
