Plans Interrupted

Well I came home from work tonight with one thing on my mind. I was going to start making a baby quilt for a friend at work. Her daughter had to have emergency surgery on Wednesday. The poor little thing is only 11 months old and she had somehow contracted a severe staff infection on her leg. My co-worker took her to the doctor on Monday afternoon and they immediately admitted her to the hospital for surgery on Tuesday. I spoke with the mother today and the little one is doing well. She is recovering and will be home either tonight or tomorrow. I am still going to make the quilt but my plans were interrupted.

I have decided to gather the items I am going to donate to Frontier Missions. I have gathered

these seven quilts to donate this winter.

I am also donating 10 hats that I have made.

Now to get back to my regularly scheduled program I will make the baby quilt using the fabrics below. I might add some more as I go along but this is what I have so far. I will show a picture of the completed quilt. I hope to get it done this week end so I can give to Mom on Monday.

I will close for now so I can get started. Dot

This is good

Here is a great song for the season. Enjoy it.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IAckfn8yiAQ

WINNER

Well, he did it. I decided to watch Dancing with the Stars this year because of Helio Castroneves. I swore I would never watch a reality show but at the beginning of the season I decided I would watch because I really like Helio. He has such a enthusiastic personality. I told myself and my husband I would watch until Helio got kicked off, I expected that to happen in the first 4-5 weeks. I never would have imagined I would be watching the finale. I never thought a little quirky Indy racecar driver could dance like this.
I was really concerned that Marie would win, she has so much family to vote for her, granted she was entertaining but she just didn't have the winning quality in my mind. I honestly thought Mel and Max were going to win until they did their free style dance. I still haven't figured out exactly what they were supposed to be doing. I was concerned that there were not enough Helio fans to keep him on top but America came through when needed and voted for the best man. I was very happy and surprised when He and Julianne were announced winners.
I will make a confession, I voted, I not only watched a show I swore I would never watch but I also voted to keep my favorite contestant on the show. Sabrina Bryan was voted off way to early in the show, I honestly thought she was going to win the competition, but when she was voted off I started voting. I wanted to see exactly how the voting worked and then I didn't want Helio to get voted off so I voted. Oh my, how we sometimes do things we say we will never do.
Congratulations to Helio Castroneves and Julianne Hough. I will now have my Monday and Tuesday nights back and who knows maybe next year I will be watching again. I will see who the line up of stars are and make my decision then. Dot

I'm home

This is where we went for Thanksgiving. Hubby and I went to Montana, visited with my sister for a day and visited our property. We had fun. We ate Thanksgiving diner at my sisters house, just me and hubby, she and her husband went to another part of the state to be with their children. We watched football, FIGHT ON USC, and just sat around. We had a good time.
Well I guess I better start getting things together for work. A new work week starts tomorrow.

Gifts in the mail

Here is what Sweet Pea sent me. My name was drawn from the hat when she had a drawing awhile back and this is what she sent. The drawing was to celebrate her 200th post. What great gifts. There was also a nice pin I forgot to put in the picture. The little bag is so cute. She made it and I just love the colors.
I will make a confession now. Yes, Sweet Pea, I am a Yankee's fan. I did not want to tell you this before you sent the goodies because I did not want that to influence what you sent. Thank-you so much for the wonderful gifts, it certainly was very generous of you.
I pray and hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving. I will be very busy the next few days and will not have an opportunity to blog. Enjoy your day how ever you spend it and remember to be thankful for all the blessings our good and gracious heavenly Father has bestowed upon us.

Stella is home

Well, the repairs are done on Stella. The ones we were having done through the Harley dealership. They called yesterday afternoon and told us my motorcycle was done. Hubby and I went today and picked it up. We are having a very wet week-end. Pouring rain yesterday and today, and my dear sweet husband rode my bike home for me in the rain. He was soaking wet, he wouldn't let me take a picture of him for the blog, so this is the picture you get.
I will sometime, probably after Christmas, order a new tank, larger one, and have it painted. Then I will have my bigger tank and Stella and I will be ready to go again. My front fender will be fixed also, it has a ding in it and we will get that done also. For now she is ride able and when my strength is back I will give her a spin. I can go out occasionally now and check if I am able to pull in the clutch lever.
I have been doing quilting this week-end. I have the shoe tree all quilted and am working on the tree table toppers. I knitted on felted booties while watching football yesterday. I finished one pair and started another. I should have started earlier on these, oh yeah, I couldn't . I will get all of them done that I need for Christmas. There is a break coming up from work with the Thanksgiving week-end.
Well I best get back to work. Have a great day. Dot

Final version???

This is what I did this evening. I think this just might be it. I am contemplating another shoe on each side but will wait until tomorrow to make that decision. I will admit I am ready to be done with this and get it quilted. The fun part is over, the design and "lets see what happens if I do this" part is over. I have to now complete and move on the the queen size Jacobs Ladder that I cut on out Saturday.
I am still open to any comments you want to make. I am pondering the rake idea. I don't know if I want to make a rake but as I look at the quilt it seems like a good idea. Tomorrow will tell.
Good evening to all. Dot

Input requested cont..........

Here is a picture with some shoes around the bottom of the tree. These are just pinned on for now. I wanted to see what it looked like and get some input before I did it for reals. Please let me know what you think. There are other options on my previous post for today.
I will thank-you in advance.

Input requested

Okay, this is where I am. I have the shoes all embroidered on the tree, now time for the leaves. This is an idea of what it will look like with leaves on the branches and ground. I really don't care for it. To cluttered. This is with the leaves on the ground only. I like it better than above picture, but I don't know if it is really a good idea.
This is with no leaves. I will embroider a few shoes on the ground. I am going to embroider some out on muslin now and attach with straight pins to see if I like it before I go full force.
Please let me know what you think. I really want your input on this. Thanks. Dot

working on the tree

I don't have much time to post but I just wanted to take the oppurtunity to share with you where I am on the tree. You can probably guess what type of tree it is now. I plan to finish the embroidery and then make some leaves to applique on the branches. I think this is coming out real cute. There are some places I would have made a few changes but things are as they are and there will be no changes made. The embroidery is to much to rip out. I did do it in one area and not again, it stays as put.
I must run, Ugly Betty is going to start and I really look forward to that show.
Good evening to all. Dot

What's on your bed???

Well here is what's on my bed. This is the first quilt (it is getting colder out). I made this quilt about 5 years ago. I named it creamsicle. I wanted a white and orange quilt and this is what I came up with. It is a pattern that I followed, I can't remember the name of the pattern. This is the second quilt. It is from last year. This is the quilt for an hour a day quilt that Judy L. gave us last year about this time. This at the time is one of my favorite quilts. I really like how this quilt came out. I really like when fall arrives and I can put it on my bed.
You can see the third quilt folded at the bottom of the bed, just in case I get cold at night and need another quilt, it also keeps my feet warm. This quilt is my, quilt in a can that I just made. I like using quilts that I have just completed. They make me smile and I feel a sense of accomplishment when I see my hard work being used.
Well, to answer the question that has been circulating through quilting blog land, these are the quilts on my bed. What's on your bed? Dot

Starting a new project

Here is the beginning of my new project. I hope it turns out the way I want it to. I think it will be really cute if it does. Oh, don't worry I will post pictures along the way and let you see the finished project. I do think I need to trim the darker side of the trunk now that I am looking at it in this picture. Off to work on the project.
USC plays Oregon Beavers today. I bet you can't guess which team I will root for. Ha- Ha. FIGHT ON!!!!!!!!!!!!

Late start and waiting.

Well today I had a late start at work. I am not quite sure what time I go in, it could be 11:30 or 12:30, waiting for the call. This is what I started last night after the trick-or-treaters were done. I finished this morning.
I am waiting for a call back from the insurance company. I am trying to figure out why they are refusing to pay the medical bills. I don't know which is worse recovering from the accident for trying to get money out of insurance companies.
Well I guess I best start getting by things together and eat something. On my last post I was asked how the arms are doing. Each week gets better. Still sore in the wrists and tops of my hands. I have most use back, still a bit weak, my strength will return in time. I am very happy with the progress. I take very little pain reliever. Now that makes me very happy. I still wear my wrist warmers a lot. Thanks for asking.
Have a good day. Dot
