April HAD Completed

Here is the final picture of my April HAD. As I stated before I think the green is too much, I can't say I am happy with the color scheme I came up with but it is done, and there is just something about it that makes me like it just a bit. Maybe it is because it is so different from what I would usually choose, I don't really know. Hubby likes it. I decided to snap a picture of my paper piecing as far as I am now. It is slow, but a very good project for watching television. I haven't felt like doing to much sewing in the last few weeks, this crud has really kicked my butt. Last week-end, Thurs-Sunday, I was dead to the world. I only got out of bed to take more medicine and go back to bed. I would lie in bed thinking "I wish I was dead or how long since I was this sick?" I felt like I had been run over by a steam roller.
I did work this week, Mon-Thurs, decided to not be available for work today, and I am getting the sniffles back. I slept in until 9:00 a.m., which means I am behind on my chores for the day, but it sure felt good to sleep in. I will get started on chores and hopefully get some sewing done today.
I hope everyone has a great week-end and also that the crud passes over your doorpost. It is horrible and I don't wish this upon anyone. Good-day.

Blanket for Lucy

I just finished this dog blanket for my son's dog last night. He and his wife adopted a dog from the dog shelter in the city they live. He for some reason named her Lucy. She is a real cute dog, a sheltie I believe. When I spoke with him and asked if Karen had received her birthday gift, he said yes, but the dog needed a quilt more than she did. What was I to do but make a quilt for Lucy. It was quite easy, I had left over strips from a TATW that I made last year so I just sewed them together with some black/white print I had lying around. I put her name on it using the wonky letters that Tonya taught us and added black binding. I will get this sent off to Lucy tomorrow as I will work later today.

Great pattern, poor excecution

Here is a picture of my HAD for April. Judy once again blessed us with a great pattern. I have wanted to put nine patches on point and don't think I have before. It certainly was a good learning experience for me. I do not think I choose the best fabric combinations for this quilt. I did use up stash which is the idea behind the quilt but one would think that I could have had better foresight than this. I think a lighter fabric color choice would have been better in the areas where I have the green. I know I had picked out a lighter steel blue but I really wanted a green and this is what I had the most of that would work. I really didn't want to purchase any new fabric. I will admit in some ways I really like it, probably because I like the pattern but in other ways I don't like it too much. I was not very accurate on trimming my blocks either which adds to my disappointment. Oh well, done is done, there is someone out there who will love to have this quilt.
Here is what I have left of the blue. I had to piece some of the border to have enough. Woo-whoo another piece of stash gone other than the scraps I will eventually use in an orts quilt.
I used three pieces of white, and all but two strips of the raspberry, I have about half of the green left (which I will use on the border) and quite a bit of the yellow (which will be used in another quilt along the way). I will bind the quilt tomorrow and move one.

Finished and Unfinished

I have caught the crud. I started yesterday getting achy all over and my neck getting stiff, as the day progressed I felt worse. I made dinner last night, not what I wanted to do but had to, and then soaked in the tub. I woke up this morning with a very sore throat. I am laying very low today.
Here is the picture of my completed February HAD by Judy. I like the outcome. There is a young girl out there somewhere that this quilt will really put a smile on her face. I don't know about giving it up. I think I will try this pattern with scrappy stars.
Here is the picture of my bricks and stepping stones. I had posted a picture on a previous post with this on my bed, here is the picture all by itself. I really like this. I was asked in a comment if I was keeping this for myself. Yes I am. I made this larger with the mindset of keeping it for my bed and am so happy with the outcome that I definitely am keeping it.

Many of the bloggers have been posting pictures of their oldest UFO's. Well this is my oldest UFO. I made this top about three years ago and have not quilted it yet. I do plan to quilt it this year. I probably won't get to it until later this summer or in the fall but it will be quilted this year. I do believe it has aged long enough and is ready to be quilted.
I hope all are healthy and do not get this crud. I an going to close and go take a nap. Have a great week-end.

Bricks and Stepping Stones

Just a quick post of the quilt I made following Bonnie's pattern, bricks and stepping stones. I like how it turned out. When I get a chance I will get a better picture. I wanted to see how it would look on my bed and thought I would post a picture also.
I must go cook dinner. I am reading tonight at the Easter vigil service so I have to be going.

April HAD

Here are the nine patches done and ready for the next set on instructions. I only used two different fabrics for the nine patches, used the strip method to make them, therefore it didn't take too long to complete. I have chosen a medium blue for where the red is on Judy's example and a lighter grey/blue for the ecru portion. I don't know if I am really happy with the fabric choices but this is what I came up with only using my stash. If you have read my previous blog entries, you know I am trying not to purchase any fabric this year. I think this will make a nice charity quilt and I really like to follow Judy's patterns. We will all see what the outcome is.
I got a summons to jury duty today. The funny thing about this I just served on jury duty two weeks ago. We were told at the time of service we are not required to serve again for two years, maybe time is slipping by quicker than I thought. I did call and speak with a clerk at the court and he said I don't have to show. I certainly hope they remember this on the date that I was scheduled for, I would hate to have a warrant out for my arrest.
I did find my glasses I lost at the wedding. Oh, thank the Lord for that. I was beginning to think they weren't going to show up and I would have to order a new pair but they surfaced and I am very very happy about that.
Not much else, I will go start up the beast and do some quilting. Have a great evening.
