Two Down

Well I finally finished quilting two of my UFO's. I have three left. I can't stand not having them quilted and completed so they will be done before I do anything new. One of the quilts not completed is the blue and white flying geese I posted awhile back. This has been hanging around for about two to three years and needs to be done!!!!!!!!! Here is a picture of Candy Corn. It turned out okay. My dear daughter, whom at Christmas time informed me she doesn't need any more quilts, said she wants this quilt. She said it is just to ugly for anyone else to want and she wants it. I asked her about not having anymore quilts and she said if she chooses them it is okay but not to just make one and give it to her. We'll see.
This quilt turned out much nicer than I thought it would, I must say I like it. I have decided to name it DNA. It reminds me of the DNA samples they show on t.v.
I must go to work, I have to get my house cleaned. I am not the world's best house keeper. I look at pictures others post of their homes and I think, I am so grateful they don't see my mess. I put off house chores this week-end, decided to quilt instead, because I thought I was going to have Monday p.m. off from work. I worked the a.m. and was called to go to another office for the p.m. This meant I did not get any housework done as I had planned. We are going to have company at our house this week-end therefore I need to get things done.
Good evening to all.

Waiting to become a flower

I saved this candy tin a few years ago, it was a gift that came to the office I work at, it was filled with delicious candies and I wanted the tin when emptied. I must admit I have a compulsion to save containers.
I am very happy I saved this one, it is working wonderfully for my flowers as I am making the sets and waiting to sew them together. I take this tin with me when I go places, along with a needle, small pair of scissors, and thread color I need, and sew the flowers together as time allows. This is the last time the tin will be filled with flower petals as I think I have all I need to complete my top. I will have many many white hexagons to make for the filler but the flowers will be complete when these are sewn together.
I am going to go back to the hockey game. I am upset with the officiating. I don't know if you have been following the games but the officiating this year just sucks. So many uncalled infractions and so many called infractions that are very very questionable. Oh well, what can you do but watch and enjoy the game.

Up and running

Well I got things loaded on my computer today. I now have my printer/scanner attached and my camera running. I am starting to feel normal again. Here is a picture of the quilt I made with the candy corn flower I spoke about in a previous post. February 21st to be exact, if you want to look back at the post. I like how it came out, kinda a warm feeling to the quilt. I am loading it to be quilted now. I spent the day taking care of a sick husband, or should I say staying out of his way. I did laundry and hung it out to dry, scubbed the tile floor in the master bathroom, and finished quilting the last two quilts I had to complete for Rosie.

This is one of the quilts. I really like this pattern and I am going to make one for myself, just a very easy 16 patch but looks very inviting to me. Well I will go now and start on the candy corn quilt.

No pictures, just words

I am still here. We are slowly getting the new computer up and running. I am patiently awaiting my old info to be transferred over. I need to load the camera info and my 3 in 1 printer info. I have been slow but getting there.

Sunday, as you all know was Mother's Day, I had a great day, but it was also my birthday. I have been on a fiber free diet this year, self imposed. I have purchased very very little fabric, a few pieces from time to time, just things I needed for upcoming projects sooooooo where am I going, well let me tell you. I have received three gift cards in the total of 95.00 for my birthday. I am so happy I can go and buy some fiber and not feel like I shouldn't be spending money. A friend also gave me a very useful box filled with fat quarters. I am going to be busy.

My hubby is home sick today. He has come down with the crud. Wouldn't you know it, just as we are getting ready to go on vacation. Why does it always happen this way. Why are men such babies when they are sick, you would think they were the only people on earth who have ever been sick. I will persevere and we will make it through this.

What I am up to now

Thank-you all who wished me well during my time of being sick. It was terrible. I am finally back to sewing. I am so ready to sew. After reading Judy's blog today and being informed she is taking two months off from the Hour a Day Quilt projects, I have decided I would make this pattern. I am going to try to make it all orange and white.
I have been working on the Grandma's Flower Garden as I watch the hockey play-offs. My teams are doing okay, not great, but they are not out of it yet. I do hope they don't get knocked out but it does seem like they are loosing their steam, their legs are getting tired. It is a long season and they play hard especially in the play-offs.
I have also been doing some long arm quilting on the charity quilts I do for Rosie. If there are any long arm quilters out there wanting a good project for practice or just a good project to help a great charity, you can contact Rosie and she will set you up. Work has been keeping me very busy. We certainly have made changes in our lives since my MIL died, I don't have as much "alone" time as I used to and so that cuts into my sewing time. I most likely won't be making as many quilts as previous and won't be posting as much either. I guess that is life happening to me and changes are happening, not that I am complaining, just getting adjusted to the changes.
Well I am going to close now, the Canucks and Ducks game is starting. I certainly hope the Canucks win.
