2008 in review

Fabrics I bought last Saturday when I finally went out after our snow storm.

Fabrics I am using on a child size trip around the world. The lady whom requested the quilt wanted pinks and lavenders so this is what I came up with.

Orange fabric is a Christmas gift from my BIL. I like it and I am thinking a nice apron.
I used 40 spools of thread and 156 prewound bobbins in 2008.
Here is a list of projects I did during the year:

I guess it was a productive year after all. I sometimes feel like I don't get much accomplished.
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL

A new day

Christmas is over and now it is time to get back to regularly scheduled life.
I will continue to quilt on this quilt and also sew on the Christmas quilt top I started. I am stuck at a crossroads on that quilt. I have the borders completed but the corners are not coming out as I would like so I have another idea in mind. The problem with my new idea, I don't have enough of the fabrics left to do what I have in mind so I should go find some that will work, but our roads are not all that inviting right now. We have large snow/slush ruts and I don't really feel like driving through them. maybe tomorrow.
I guess I will get busy. Have a good day.

A Spring Fling

Here is my latest complete. I have actually had the top done and quilted for a couple months but needed to sew the binding down. Well, I guess it just took a snow week-end for me to get my bindings done. I sewed the binding on An American Christmas, Spring Fling, and my Christmas Sparkler- pattern offered by Marcie at Patch-A-Lot More.
I really like the snow for taking pictures. Doesn't it make the quilts look more inviting? I think so. All the cold snow with a nice warm quilt on top, plus I don't have to thumb tack it to the wall and wonder if I can make it work.
Good day to all and May God Save America.

I feel better now

I feel so much better now that I know Joe Biden will be the czar of my family. I was wondering how I was going to live my life without someone telling me how. I have been floundering now for about 32 years. I had my parents for the first 18 and then something happened. I left home and didn't know what to do. I am really sad that it has taken our government 32 years to figure this out. I know now that after Jan 20th I won't have anymore worries. I will have czar Biden and all the rest of our elected officials in Washington to take care of me. I wonder when I can put in my notice at work. Oh, yeah, I can't do that, they need me to work so they can have my earnings to take care of all of us, silly me. I thought they were going to do that just because they cared about me soooo much and wanted me to have a good life. I will have to work 25 more years before I get my suicide meds, why you ask, because I no longer will be useful to their cause and it will be less expensive and not much of a drain on society to put me down. What a great life I have to look forward to under our new middle class czar.

Let us all celebrate and welcome in the new administration.

Does the choice of the word czar bother anyone else as much as it bothers me? I have not seen anything but czar used for cabinet positions, one after the other, this just does not sit well with me. What is up with that anyway? I thought we were a country of leaders, not czar like dictators?

An American Christmas

Here it is, this is the completed quilt. As you probably guessed by the title of this post, I have named this quilt "An American Christmas". I really like this pattern, it is easy to make and just beautiful. I have made this size three times now and have made smaller versions of this pattern and put into a larger quilt. That quilt will be shown at a later date. (still working out the borders).
I am working on the Christmas bear paw and quilting a few quilts on the long arm.
Well, I best be getting back to my day. Enjoy the day and pray that God will bless and save this great country of ours.

We should all be so lucky

With our economy, bailouts and many business cutting back or closing doors look what our great elected leaders have decided to do.

With economy in shambles, Congress gets a raise

http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/with-economy-in-shambles-congress-gets-a-raise-2008-12-17.html

Remember readers who is in charge of the congress, yes it is the Dems, the very people who care and want the best for the little people. Oh, don't get me wrong I just as upset with the Repubs but we already know they are mean and nasty.

Get ready for the big melt down.

Capitalism still rocks even though our current president has seemed to forgotten that our country thrives on capitalism. We do have a couple weeks before socialism takes its stronghold so enjoy your Holiday Season (Holy Days) and your last few days of personal freedoms.

May God save America.

Bear Paws

Here is where I am with my bear paw quilt. I have used all Christmas fabrics and will have to think about what to do for borders. I have a few ideas but need to get to bed now. This quilt right now measures 46" x 62.5". I don't really know what I am aiming for but I will know when I am done with it and want to move on.

I guess I will have a snow day tomorrow so I will decorate and sew. Doesn't that sound like fun?

Good evening and May God save America.

Quilted and Up

My Christmas wall quilt is all done and hanging in its spot. I have a hanging sleeve on it but I don't have the rod up yet so I have it up right now with thumb tacks.
Truth be told, it will probably stay that way until I take it down.
This is my first Christmas decoration of the year. I do have tomorrow off from work, due to our snow, so I might get some decorating done then.
Take care and have a great day tomorrow. Remember even though our socialist president-elect will be ratified by the electoral college tomorrow our country was founded on capitalism and capitalism still remains the best system in the world. I pray that God will allow us to remain capitalistic and we will make it through this administration without to much nationalism/socialistic-Marxism happening.
Prayer is a very powerful tool. Leaders are placed by God and removed by God as His plan and purpose unfolds. May God save America! and Bless America also.

Snow Day

Today we are having a snow day in Portland. This is the earliest I can remember it snowing in Portland for a long time. This is the view out of my sewing room window. It is so much fun to watch it fall.
Here are a few pictures of my back yard and patio. As you can see it is messy.

I like this one of my outside chimney. I will stay in and clean, decorate, and sew.

Have a great day. Enjoy the weather where ever you are.

A week of sewing

I decided I needed a Christmas wall quilt so I made this one over the week-end and the first few days of this week. Some of my readers may remember I made one similar to this last year. I gave it to a very special person and decided I needed one for myself. I will quilt it when I am done with the quilt I have loaded on my quilting machine. Speaking of the quilt on my machine. The thread kept breaking on me tonight so I decided to give it a break and work on a bear paw block. I have always wanted to make a bear paw quilt but just never have . I decided tonight was the night.
I needed something to do while listening to talk radio about the mess our new president elect is in. I know it won't stick to him, the man walks on water and knows nothing about anything that occurs right below his nose but he certainly knows how to socialize our country. Anyway, this is the first block. I will make more and make a Christmas bear paw quilt.
Good evening to all and remember, Capitalism Rocks.

Frontier Missions

Here is my tally for this year. I donate to Frontier Missions each year. I have done this for about three years now. 25 crocheted hats.

Eight quilts. I wish it could have been more, but events did not allow that to happen this year. Hopefully there will be more next year. I am sure these quilts will be greatly appreciated.

Advice sought

Obama laying the groundwork for US health reform

Here is the link to the article.
http://www.reuters.com/article/vcCandidateFeed2/idUSN05329704

I am going to let him know I do not want the government involved in my medical life. I do not want socialized medicine. I see what this type of medical coverage does for our retired people and I will have to accept it in about 18 years but right now I want Mr. Obama and the rest of our politicians out of my health care.

I really like that about being an American, we have the opportunity to be responsible for ourselves,( or we do until Jan 20th). I pray this will never go through and I hope and pray many other Americans feel the same way.

Booty Swap Christmas

I am so happy, I received my Booty Swap quilt yesterday. It is just beautiful. This picture just does not do it justice. Here is a picture of the back. This is such beautiful fabric I hate to hide it against the wall.

Thank-you so much Kate. She blogs at KateQuilts, you should go over and check it out.
I hope you all enjoy your week-end.

Thought provoking from a friend

Cell phone vs. Bible

Ever wonder what would happen if we treated our Bible like we treat our cell phone?

What if we carried it around in our purses or pockets?
What if we flipped through it several time a day?
What if we turned back to go get it if we forgot it?
What if we used it to receive messages from the text?
What if we treated it like we couldn't live without it?
What if we gave it to Kids as gifts?
What if we used it when we traveled?
What if we used it in case of emergency?

This is something to make you go....”hmm...where is my Bible?”

Oh, and one more thing. Unlike our cell phone, we don't have to worry about our Bible being disconnected because Jesus already paid the bill.

Makes you stop and think, where are my priorities? And no dropped calls!

Fred Thompson On Economy

This has been floating around on the web today at FredPAC and Politico. Fred Thompson discusses the economy.
