I completed two more quilts this week. The strawberry quilt is from a Fons and Porter magazine, May/June 2016. I like it much better than I thought I would.

This Hunters Star quilt I made with 5" squares I received as a Christmas gift from my brother in law and his family one year. I worked on and off on this quilt for a couple years. I used a paper piecing pattern for the blocks. I am really happy with the outcome. I was a bit concerned at first because the fabric was a combination of Asian and Hawaiian fabrics, they live in Hawaii.

I had always wanted to make a Hunter's Star, now I can check that one off my bucket list.

It has been very very not here this week end and I did get a lot of sewing done but mostly on a mystery quilt. The final clue comes out tomorrow.

Have a great week. I pray your summer is going well.

May God Bless you
I have a patient who is going through chemo therapy now. She has lost her hair and was wearing a fleece chemo hat when she came to the office for her appointment. I had just found a free pattern for a chemo cap on the internert. Milly's Tie Hat Pattern at www.brimmingwithlove.org but did not know anyone in need of a chemo hat. I asked her if it would be okay if I made her one and she said yes. This is what I came up with. I hope she likes it. If she does I will make her a few more.

Hope your day is blessed.
My most recent completed quits. I am busy using up my fabric. All of these patterns have been found free on the internet. I can not remember where or the names of the quilts. Some from Moda Bake Shop and others from different fabric websites, such as Michael Miller. The baseball quilt is from Easy Quilts, winter 2012. Most likely all will be donated at the end of the year.

This watermelon quilt is a mystery quilt I did through a Facebook quilting page. I plan to use it as a tablecloth for our patio table. I put pockets on the corner when I did the binding and will put a hole in the middle of the umbrella to fit through. Most likely use a buttonhole stitch around the edge or maybe zig-zag.
Hope your year has been blessed so far. May God continue to bless you.
It was going real good until I was almost finished with the quilting then I realized I had a block turned the wrong direction. This is the second quilt I made with this pattern and I was so excited to quilt this one. I had decided to work on my freehand feathers and ruler work. Humming along then I run into the problem of a turned block. Not going to fix it, I would have had to take the quilt off the quilting machine, turn the block and reload. The quilt was finished as is and will go to someone who will love it imperfections and all.

I pray your day is blessed and until next post, May God Bless you all.
I made a selfie. I took this picture of myself a few years ago while camping. I did a black/white picture of the photo then made the selfie. I did the orange head band for a splash of color. I was originally wearing a blue bandanna for a head band.

Until next time, may God bless you.
"Jumping in feet first" finished. I learned a lot during this process and already have another idea in mind. My next project is going to be black and white with a little color.

I can not say I am completely happy with the outcome but I am happy enough to move on.

Hope everyone has a wonderful week-end. We are hot hot hot in the Pacific Northwest. I know that is not the same everywhere. Make the most of the days you have. Until I post again, May God Bless you and yours.
Another completed quilt. I made this while vising my mom a few weeks ago. I had the body done but did the borders and quilting after I got home. I am really not a Steelers fan but this fabric was given to me so I made a quilt with it. I will donate and someone will love it.

Have a blessed day and God Bless
My feet are completed, that is the construction of the them. Now onto the tread painting. I am a bit apprehensive about that. I have not done anything like this and with all the work I have done so far I hate to mess is up now. I will just jump in " feet first".

Have a safe and Happy Independence Day.
Last week end I was with my mother. When I visit her I take some sewing projects to work on. I took my weed whacker blocks I had made to put together into a top. Well guess what I had twice as many as I needed. I did not want to make one bigger quilt with some left over blocks to I made two quilts. As you can see I made a mistake on one of them with block placement and left it that way.(I kinda like it).

I will donate these two quilts to charity. I actually made three tops but have one left to put borders on and quilt.

We are have hot hot weather this week end so I will work on the other quilt, finish it and hopefully get back to working on my art quilt.

I hope your week end is enjoyable and may God bless you.
I h ave decided I want to try my hand at an art quilt. I have spent much time studying how this craft is done and have chosen to use this picture of my feet as my first project.

Here we go, getting started. Those are my glasses, I just set them there while I snapped the picture. I guess I thought it was a good spot to place them so I could find them when I resumed this project.

Here is where I ended at Friday night. Pretty good so far.

Couldn't sleep Friday night so I got up and did some more work. Finally went to bed with this being my ending spot.

This is where I ended on Sunday. Looking at the picture it looks like I need a toe nail on the next to last toe left foot. This toe nail does not show in the photo but I don't think it looks right without.

Final product so far. The jeans are the paper pattern folded onto the fabric to get the full effect. I will work on the jeans on another day.

Well that is my progress so far. Let me know what you think.

God Bless
I made this quilt using up left over fabric from a quilt I made a few years ago for my grandson. I am trying to use up fabrics and get then out of my way. I figured this was a good way to use up this print. I think I should have made the blue strip a bit thinner but done is done and it is being used.

I made this quilt while visiting my mother. My sister and I were at my mothers for a week end clean up and garage sale set up but we were rained out. I did go through the many boxes of fabric my mom had, my sister and I took what we wanted, left the rest for the sale. I had spare time so I used my mom's sewing machine (I didn't bring mine as I thought I wouldn't have time to sew) and some fabric strips I found and made this quilt top while there. I have named this quilt "Hanging with my Home-girls" I will donate this to charity in the fall.

I just completed this quilt. It is a free pattern on the internet, I believe JR Reynolds, not certain though. I had a a couple other ribbon style quilts and then found this pattern. I think I like the other pattern better as the ribbons are not as wide and think they look much better. I think if I ever made this again I wold make twice as many ribbons and half the width. It is a nice quilt and someone will love it.

I am trying my hand at an art quilt right now. I will share more about that later.

Have a blessed day.
We will be getting our 6th Grandbaby in August. We will not know boy or girl until baby arrives so I am prepared. I used a paper piecing pattern by Bonnie Hunter called Wild and Goosey for the pink quilt and a pattern by Robert Kaufman "Remixed Geese" for the blue. I like how both quilts came out and will now patiently await the new arrival.

dothttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14648984294507789296noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20083569.post-40025771497183761892015-04-21T23:04:00.001-07:002015-04-21T23:04:13.285-07:00checking accessJust checking to see if this is working. Two of our grandsons are spending the night with us. I have wanted to make them placemats for a long time and finally decided today would be the day. I found these left over pieces from a car quilt I made a few years ago and they worked perfectly for the mats. I will now need to get one made for grandson three but that probably won't happen today. We are going to the movies this afternoon. Hubby promised the boys he would take them to the movies so we will go see Frozen later today. They are excited and should be fun.

Have a great week-end
I decided to make some for my co-workers and my grandsons. Here is a picture of the completed mug rugs. They were fun to make and I used a fair amount of my scraps.

I also decided to use some of my scraps to make myself a small knitting bag. I have been taking my knitting projects to and from work in an old gift bag which has become very tattered over the months. I thought I would try making a bag with scraps and left over batting. Here are the result. This is the same bag, both sides just so you can see the fabrics I used. I really like how it turned out.

I just might have to make a few more in different sizes before I move on to other projects.

Well I better go and get dinner started. I promise to try to post at least once a week. I haven't really been sewing much in the last few months but hopefully that will change.

Have a blessed week-end.

This is the completed Trouble with T's quilt. I am somewhat happy with the outcome. I guess this is one of the downfalls of my quiting techinque. When I make an original quilt, from my minds eye, I start with a concept in my mind and a quilt square and go for it. I have no real pattern and just make things up as I go along. Sometimes it works out really well and other times, well you get corners that quite look right. It is done and I can move forward. Someone will love this quilt.

I have started a Christmas table topper. I found the link to the pattern on Bad Ass Quilters Society. Well off to sew for a bit than get ready for work.

T quilt. I didn't want just a plain Jane setting so I decided to add to the usual on point design. I did not know I would be creating such a mess for myself. I made T blocks and then I made more and more and more. Once I had all the T blocks and sashings made and the top sewn together I didn't like the width of the quilt. The length was perfect but the width was lacking so what is one to do. I did not want a large 5" plus border on each side so guess what, I made more T blocks. Then the question, what to do with the corners. Well, more T blocks. I had to resize the corner T blocks and they really did not turn out that well but it is what it is. I am quilting and the quilt will stay as is. I have been busy, knitting working, quilting, working, watching football (YEA!!! USC won last night). Now back to quilting.

I took the challenge of making the mystery quilt offered by Bonnie Hunter in Quiltmaker Magazine. Well this is my finished quilt. The reason I say "my" is because I put the quilt together wrong. I did not realize it was wrong until I was almost done quilting so this is how it well stay. I know there is someone out there who will love the quilt and use it.

I will donate this quilt to charity, not because it is wrong but because that was the purpose of the quilt when I started the project. I try to donate at least 12 quilts a year and I think I will fall short this year but I am striving to reach that goal.

Have a wonderful day and who knows when I will bless you with another post. I have not be very consistent but my life has been very busy with non quilting activities.
Angelika's is having a give away. My favorite yarn is represented in the photo I posted. I love Cascade 220. This yarn knits up so nicely. I have never had any problems with it while using the yarn and the out come is professional looking. Nice yarn to knit with and I would highly recommend you try it. As you can see this wonderful yarn can be purchased at Angelika's, give the website or store a visit. You will not be disappointed.
I have been doing more knitting than quilting of late. This is the scarf I am working on now. It is called "Stiller", I got the pattern from Raverly. Easy to knit and I like what I see so far. I did a provisional cast on as I will join the ends to make a cowl when done knitting. I am using Sublime chunky merino tweed. The photo looks a bit on the blue side but the yarn is gray, must have blue undertones.

This cowl is almost complete. I have the I-cord to knit along the top and bottom of the cowl. I found this pattern on Knitty.com, fun to knit and easy. The yarn is sock weight. I purchased it from Knit Picks at a sale they had. There was no wrapper on the yarn so I can not give you a description but the colors are brighter than appear in the photo, reminds me of a box of crayola crayons.

I am working on a quilt also but have decided to wait to show a picture. I best get back to my machine. Happy knitting and sewing to all.
This is the quilt I made for my brother. Approximately two years ago he asked me to make him a quilt that looks like a golf score card. I know nothing about golf. He kept asking about the quilt, then sent me some examples of score cards, and guess what I sat on it for about another year.

In February(I think) I decided I better get this done. I picked the card I figured would be the best to emulate. This is the result. Many hours, many months, and much mind work, I am done, done, done.

I did not want to post a picture until I knew he had the quilt and liked it. Well, even if he didn't like it I would have posted the picture.

I hate to say never, but it is highly unlikely I will make another of these quilts.

May God bless you and our country.
I finally completed the golf quilt top for my brother. This is a quilt that was requested at least two years ago. He wanted a golf quilt, and I know nothing about golf. My brother sent me ideas he had, I choose the one I thought I could do and am now ready to quilt the top. I am so happy but I bet not as happy as my brother will be when this is done. I will post a picture of the completed quilt after I know he has received the quilt and seen the finished quilt for himself.
May God Bless you and yours and help us save our great country.
Well I know it has been a long time since I have posted but I have been busy. I know that sounds like an excuse but it is the truth. I started a new job and career as a Certified Nursing Assistant. I have been working 4 days a week. This work is very busy work and when I get home I am tired. There is much walking and being on your feet all shift, but a very rewarding occupation.

This is one of the quilts I have completed this week. I started this about 6 weeks ago, but I also had 3 other quilts going at the same time. Working on 4 quilts at once is plan crazy. Not only do I have 4 quilts going but I also had 4 knitting projects going. The pattern is Bonnie Hunter's Scrappy Mountain Majesties.
It is called "Airing of the Quilts", my friend Diane (from Pine Point designs) and I went. Here a the quilts that I found intriguing enough to take pictures of.
