Compete and a Pink Pause

I have to give Bonnie, from Quiltville, the credit for these first two pictures. I used her pattern for Trip Around the World for my Very Pink Pause. I needed to make a bigger sized pink TATW for a gift. The pattern I have, you use 51/2 inch blocks and I didn't want that size blocks, so I decided to check Bonnie's website and read her instructions for TATW. Her pattern is very easy to follow and uses 41/2 inch squares. This is what I have so far, all from my stash. I need to go get fabric for the border, didn't have enough of a darker pink for the border so I will go and purchase some border fabric. Here is the completed portion of this entry. The scrappy TATW is completed. I am very happy with the outcome. Once again I have to thank Bonnie at Quiltville for her patterns and their easy instructions. I will be very pleased to see this quilt on my bed. The finished size is 99" x 99". I have put it on my bed before I quilted and was very pleased with how it fit and looked.
Here is a picture of what I have completed for Judy's leaf season. This is coming along nicely. I am enjoying the opportunity Judy gave us (me) to finally make a maple leaf quilt. I am truly trying to use only fabric from my stash, therefore mine will be a bit more scrappy than Judy's. That is half the fun of quilting though, to see how quilts look different just because of the different fabric choices.
Well I best be going. I want to get a lot done before the USC game at 5:00 pm. They play Arizona today. You probably already know who I am rooting for FIGHT ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love that pink TATW - and adore your beautiful big scrappy one!! Amazing how far back you had to stand to take the photo! Can't wait to see those Hour-a-Day quilts take shape. Don't have enough fabric here yet to join in, but I will eventually if they keep going!

Both of your TATW are so beautiful. I made one this year too. I especially like your scrappy one. I am going to have to make one like it one of these days.

I love your work, I always have trouble squaring up my cut half square triangles, everytime i meausure the squares before I put them together and draw that line down the middle they meausure fine, then when Im done sewing on the 1/4 seam on each side, then cut down the middle, I go to cut the little pieces off and its really off. I dont get it. hope you could follow that....YOur squares look great. Im just starting out, and my neighbor is helping me as I go. I just learned how to use the 1/4" scant on the sewing machine. anyway, that's my story.

Love the colors on your maple leaves. I just love doing the maple leaf block. I'm planning to make something with maple leaves as a gift this holiday season and your leaves are a reminder to me to get moving!!!

I get to say "wow" X's 3 Dot!!! I think the pink TATW is spectacular and I really, really love the scrappy one! What alot of sewing in that one girl! You did so good! Using up all that stash and just needing some pink borders..*VBS*

I love your scrappy leaves too. If I get around to doing it, I'm pretty sure mine will be scrappy, probably even the background. Not sure I have enough yardage of any one thing to do them all the same...time will tell.
And I just want to add how impressed I am with you, and your old friend, the Singer. I've hung onto my old metal casing Viking from the 1970, it doesn't sew straight and it can be a stinker at time, but I just can't give it up.
I didn't keep my first machine, purchased back in 1955. I had heard of a Latter Day Saints family that had about 10 children and really needed a second machine, so I gave it to them. I wouldn't mind having it, but just for sentimental reasons..*VBS* Good for you for keeping yours. Hugs, Finn

I found it. Lovely (the pink one).
The next one how big (or small) are the squares? And how many? It is stunning.

I made Bonnie's TATW and really loved it too - I will make a few more in the future. And WOW! What a scrappy quilt your 2nd one is - it truly is wonderful! I have a huge hodgepodge of scraps to use up so am casting about for a pattern... hummm...

Cheers!
