This is what I did this evening. I think this just might be it. I am contemplating another shoe on each side but will wait until tomorrow to make that decision. I will admit I am ready to be done with this and get it quilted. The fun part is over, the design and "lets see what happens if I do this" part is over. I have to now complete and move on the the queen size Jacobs Ladder that I cut on out Saturday.
I am still open to any comments you want to make. I am pondering the rake idea. I don't know if I want to make a rake but as I look at the quilt it seems like a good idea. Tomorrow will tell.
Good evening to all. Dot

I like the idea of the rake as it adds just that touch of autumn that is so near and dear to all of our hearts and experience. If you do add a couple more shoes, maybe a bit further out from the bottom of the tree as though the wind caught them and sent them whipping further than the rest. I really love this quilt!!!
Happy quilting!
Teri
PS if you don't change a think it is still a work of beauty!
Very nice but I think a rake might add an interesting touch. What a unique idea! Well done.
Looks like everyone is voting for the rake! Even without it, I think it is beautiful. You are so creative!
Rake or no rake, it is wonderful!!! What creativity!
I love your tree! My favorite is the slouchy boot on the ground. You make the coolest quilts.
I love it! When I see it I think of a friend that has a zillion pair of shoes. It is so clever. I like the idea of the rake but if you don't add it it will still be lovely.
This is absolutely priceless! You are so creative.
I think the rake could really add to the overall effect (and if you're going to go there -- what about a pile of raked shoes?). I love the shoe tree -- this one is just plain fun!
Hi Dot, I vote for the rake - maybe leaning up against the tree. Or a large bag (like a Santa bag) with the rake leaning on it as if some of the shoes had been raked up and bagged already. If you decide to stop now, that's O.K. with me 'cause it looks great and conveys an interesting message. Love ya! Keep those creative juices flowing!
I just found your blog through another blog. I just had to tell you I think this rocks! My mom has tons of shoes and this totally reminds me of her.
Such a cute and creative quilt! I think the rake idea is a good one, too. The quilt is wpmderful right now, though, if you decide to stop.
What fun! even Elvis's blue suede shoe?
