WINNER

Well, he did it. I decided to watch Dancing with the Stars this year because of Helio Castroneves. I swore I would never watch a reality show but at the beginning of the season I decided I would watch because I really like Helio. He has such a enthusiastic personality. I told myself and my husband I would watch until Helio got kicked off, I expected that to happen in the first 4-5 weeks. I never would have imagined I would be watching the finale. I never thought a little quirky Indy racecar driver could dance like this.
I was really concerned that Marie would win, she has so much family to vote for her, granted she was entertaining but she just didn't have the winning quality in my mind. I honestly thought Mel and Max were going to win until they did their free style dance. I still haven't figured out exactly what they were supposed to be doing. I was concerned that there were not enough Helio fans to keep him on top but America came through when needed and voted for the best man. I was very happy and surprised when He and Julianne were announced winners.
I will make a confession, I voted, I not only watched a show I swore I would never watch but I also voted to keep my favorite contestant on the show. Sabrina Bryan was voted off way to early in the show, I honestly thought she was going to win the competition, but when she was voted off I started voting. I wanted to see exactly how the voting worked and then I didn't want Helio to get voted off so I voted. Oh my, how we sometimes do things we say we will never do.
Congratulations to Helio Castroneves and Julianne Hough. I will now have my Monday and Tuesday nights back and who knows maybe next year I will be watching again. I will see who the line up of stars are and make my decision then. Dot

Yaaaa!!! Isn't it great? I'm so jazzed - I really wanted him to win too. Not your typical NASCAR-type driver is he? Class act -- good for him!

We have long since fallen off the 'No Reality' wagon around these parts. I cheated and only stayed up until Marie was given the boot, checked the internet to see that Helio won *YIPPEE* and then went to bed.

Hi Dot, I knew you would be thrilled that your favorite contestant won. I was very glad, too. There's something about Mel that I did not care for....I think her attitude was her downfall. One of the judges called it like I see it: it's not all about the dancing (technically speaking) it's also about sportsmanship and the ability to entertain the audience. I always thought that the short blonde was the best dancer/entertainer in the whole group and her elimination points out some of the shortcomings in the rating system used. At any rate, I'm happy with the final outcome. -Lady Di

I think I once voted for an "American Idol" contestant to stay on the show - LOL! Just one phone call.

That sure is a fun show to watch! I feel the same way you do - life is too short to watch other people's lives unfolding on tv - but this show is a good one. I love Marie - but was glad she didn't win because she truly wasn't such a great dancer!!

I thought I was the only quilter who supported Helio and started voting once Sabrina got knocked off.
