Little house in the big woods

This is another of my first quilts. I called it Little house in the big woods. I got the idea from Quilters Magazine. The little house was my idea. I gave this quilt to my God-daughter for her 10th birthday, along with the Laura Ingalls Wilder book.

I made this quilt in 1998. The HST trees were part of a series the magazine was printing, some kind of village quilt but I decided to make the quilt look like snow on the trees, hence the white and colored HST trees and the little log cabin all by itself in the middle to signify the little house in the big woods.

I am showing another first quilt because I have not completed much on this side with new quilts. I have completed an quilt top I am unable to show at this time. I will show later when the timing is right.

I have been suffering from sinus problems also which has turned on my slow button. Hoping that will go away soon. Not much else, just wanted to post something to let you know I am still alive and kicking. Busy week, I will work 5 days this week and have a busy Saturday already planned. How does life get so full of stuff? Good eveing to all.

What a good idea to give that quilt with the book. She must have been tickled. Glad to hear you are still alive! :)

What a good idea - the trees and house look effective against the dark blue background.

What a neat creative idea Dot!! Love the snow on the trees and connection of the log cabin to the Big Woods..*VBS* Of course being in WI, those "Big Woods" are just down the road from me, near Lake Pepin..
Great job on the color too!! Don't ever feel bad about showing us an older quilt...they ALL count !!!!

Dot, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Little House books even now. Your quilt is awesome. What a nice gift to get that quilt and the book. I just might have to make myself a quilt like this someday :)
