I made this Trip Around the World, (used the pattern I mentioned in a pervious post),using fabric exclusively from my stash. I wanted it to look manly, since it was camping fabric that I used as my focus fabric. I wanted a manly pantograph but didn't have one. I didn't want to order one because I would have had to wait for it to arrive and I wanted to get this quilted now. It will be a campfire quilt, and I want to get them all done before the end of July. Sooooo what did I do????????
I made my own pantograph. I don't think I am very thrilled with the pattern but my husband really likes it. Each time he looked at it he would tell me how much he liked it. How did I make it you ask, well let me tell you.............................
I purchased this book, enlarged one of the fish pictures, traced it on a piece of paper, figured out how I wanted the panto to look, copied the pattern, taped it togeather and this is what I came up with. I do think I will tweek it abit, but for the first time and making my own( more or less) pantograph, I think it turned out okay.
After the binding is done, I will post a picture of the quilt along with a picture of the back. I am going to start triming the quilt and getting the binding ready. I will bind in dark brown.
Have great week-end.

How creative! I love the fish. I can't wait to see the completed quilt.
I think it is perfect for a camping quilt. Can't wait to see the finished product.
Very creative, Dot! And if HE likes it and is making positive comments I would say you did a great job. Mine rarely says anything about what I make or quilt and just gripes about having to hold them up for pictures---sigh.
That looks great - and the main thing is that hubby likes it!
I like Your Trip Around the World! Likes a lot to me it for his colors! and I think that it will be a beautiful camping quilt :))))
Way to go Dot! I applaud your adventure...you are definitely UP to doing this, and the results prove it!! I just can't imagine that a guy would love the idea and the whimsey of fish swimming in his "camping" quilt. Brillant!!!! You rock! Hugs, Finn
Cool manly panto! How clever :-)
Dot, I love the quilt and love the panto! Way to come up with a great plan.
I think it's great! You did good, this time you should listen to the DH! Hey that's my initials too!
That is a manly fish, and will look great on the manly quilt. I made a goldfish once on a quilt. It was a baby quilt, and I practiced drawing a gold fish over and over again until I got a hang of what order I was going to sew everything. It was one big fish, with scales and fins, and I filled in the rest with waves. I was so proud, but gave away the quilt before I got a good picture. :(
