I should be done by now but..........

I should be done with this top now but I keep sewing it wrong. I don't know what the problem is but I keep sewing the back out instead of the right way. I give up for the night. I am tired of ripping out to resew what I had just sewn. In some instances I would rip it out just to sew it wrong again. I have decided I need to stop for the night. I will embroider on my embroidery machine. In this case all I have to do is change the thread color. I don't even know how well I will do that, last night I kept breaking the needle while I was embroidering. I guess some days or should I say week-ends are just like that.

I will try again tomorrow on the quilt top. I will say I am happy with it so far. I do think the back ground fabric toned the down the orange a lot, maybe a bit more than I wanted or expected
but sometimes you don't know this until you are way into the quilt. I think I would have made the nine patches cut at 2.5 instead of 2 like the pattern called for. I thought about this but didn't know if I had enough background fabric and then that would make the setting squares larger which I don't think I would want. I will think about it for the next time, I know I will try this pattern again and maybe just set in differently. I already have an idea in my mind, but this idea will be put way on the back burner, as I have many other quilt ideas to do before that happens.

I really like your new project. Using the back of the shiny fabric is a great idea. In all my quilting I have never thought of doing that. Hopefully tomorrow you won't have to rip any seems out. :-)

It is looking really effective - and always a good idea to stop and start fresh in the morning (I am rubbish at doing any sewing at night).

It is looking great. I love that pattern. Once I rip out the same seam the second time and re-sew it wrong I stop for awhile too. Hopefully it goes better today.

Some quilts are just more stubborn than others. After a break maybe you both will be feeling better. It looks great so far.

And remember that you paid as much for the back of the fabric as you did the front, so using it is a wise idea. And remember when I couldn't sew those simple anvils correctly? I must have sewn them every way but the right way on each and every block. Maybe your brain is trying to figure out the size you want it the next time, or maybe is trying to create a new block instead of this one. Either way, I really do like the looks of the blocks as you have them now. Makes me want to try it, too......well, maybe not right now until I get the anvils set...

This is a great project Dot. Some days are just not made for quilting. I'm not sure why that is, but things keep going wrong, and the next day int he same circumstances, things just go better. You're smart to just wait for another day. Hope it goes smoothly for you.

Some days are just like this... it happens to all of us. Please persevere, this is a wonderful quilt and I can't wait to see more! On it's own time, of course! So, what are you embroidering?
