What a great day. A few of us quilters got together today for a quilters' gathering. We met at Cher's house. She was so gracious to invite us over for the morning and lunch. Cher showed us her beautiful quilts, we feasted our eyes on her stash, oh my, what a stash and we had show and tell with a few of our own projects. There were five of us, Cher, Holly, Patti, Michelle and myself. All I can say is: What a great day it was!
Here is my current project. I am using up left overs from the Colorado Beauty quilt I have been working on. I miscalculated and cut to many strip sets so I had to do something with the leftovers. This is what I have come up with so far. I have one more flower to make but have to wait until tomorrow when I finish my laundry. Why you may ask, well I used the dryer sheets to as the backing on my applique pieces and I need one more to finish the rest of the petals so I will wait until I finish my laundry tomorrow to do that. I have not measured the piece, so I don't know the dimensions yet and I am still thinking of a name for the piece. I saw the most beautiful applique today that I have ever seen in my life. Patti from Quilting is my Passion has to be the best appliquer (this is not a word but I am going to use it any way, I will just make it up for this post) on this planet. Her work is so precise, one would think it was painted on the piece. Mine, I can tell you right now will not be like that. I will be happy with however mine turns out but in the back of my mind aspire to someday be as good as Patti.
Have a good evening. Dot

Oh my - thank you for the compliment! I am blushing! All I can say is I've had lots and lots of practice. Next time we get together I'd be happy to show some applique tips if you are interested. Have you seen the ones I posted on my blog - there is a link on my sidebar.
It was such a great time today - I was thrilled to finally get to meet you!
Hi Dot! It was so much fun meeting you! And your quilts are so unusual and so beautiful...however, Patti's applique does indeed have to be seen to be believed...and ignore her comment above...it's not experience it's true talent;)You, my dear are as equally talented in your own ways, however! ((hugs from Salem!)) Michele
What a fun day with quilting friends!
Love your wallhanging, Dot! Your daisies against the rich fabrics look just as real daisies against the dark, rich color of the earth. Lovely!
What a gorgeous quilt! A day spent with quilting friends is the best!
can't wait until we meet up again Dot! It was the best fun and the sun shone on us too. Your quilts were wonderful and you are a delightful person too.
Good food, good friends, good fellowship... It was loads of fun getting together. I want to applique like Patti, too! What a standard she has set. I'm going to be striving the rest my life to applique half as well. I enjoyed seeing your quilts in person.
Sounds like a fun day *s* Your quilt looks great!
Wow that is a gorgeous quilt. I just love the beautiful white flowers against the darker background.
Wow, sounds like such fun! And such a pretty wall hanging! I love applique on patchwork...more layers to enjoy!
What a great use for dryer sheets! You are so creative.
Beautiful Dot!
Sounds like a great day. I love the way you're using you extra strips. The flowers are delightful!
Is there a rule that says other people's stashes are always much more exciting than your own? It always seems to be like that!
Sounds like lots of fun Dottie! Happy you have this connection. Hugs, Finn
