Back to the drawing board

Boy did I blow it on this one. I had one yard of the bear fabric that I purchased off the rems rack. I decided I wanted to make a cute baby quilt for the new baby with this fabric. So I started cutting and sewing, cutting and sewing, thinking about what to do next and doing that. No pattern, just making things up as I go along, which is pretty much how I do things. This is the out come, a very large baby quilt. It measures 51x 68. I don't know how big I expect this baby to be. My hubby asked it it was a Baby Huey quilt. I guess that will be the name of the quilt now that I think about it. Baby Huey.
Oh well, I will go back to the drawing board on another day and make a few regular sized baby quilts, to keep at my house, this quilt will wait for a few years when the baby gets a bit older. The quilt will certainly make a nice quilt for a younger child.
Have a good week-end. It is going to be hot, hot, hot here so I will sew and do housework. Enjoy. Dot

It's adorable, and I've never met a kid yet who shrinks. In a very short time it will be too small so enjoy!

I used this same bear fabric to make a quilt. Don't you just love it for a little boy? I think it is perfect!

I think the quilt would be great to have and grow into. They can have lots of space to crawl around on.

I agree far better too big than too small and it will still be fine for him when he moves into a big boys bed - a really simple but very effective way to use an eminently suitable fabric - I think it's great!

THink how nice this big quilt will be on the carpet with baby playing on top. Little quilts just aren't big enough for that. Or on the grass!

I remember one time I offered a baby quilt to some friends and they asked me to make a twin size one for the day bed in the same room. Your quilt would have worked for that. I like the bigger quilts on the floor for them too.

I think it's a perfect size! Baby will grow into it. I don't make baby quilts smaller than 50" personally!

Looks wonderful and fun!! I'm sure it will be loved one day :)

I always make my baby quilts big aswell, that way they can take them into the 'big bed' when the time comes.

Gosh - my Little Boy grew so fast that he outgrew many of his "baby" quilts FAST. That sounds like a perfect size for a baby - lots of years to love it without their feet getting cold! I would give it to a baby. When my son was born one of my sisters gave me lots of outfits - size 2T and 3T - and down the road I did use them - and was happy to have them afterall - he had outgrown the baby clothes! LOL. I think it is a great quilt!!!

Cheers!
