Waste Not, Want Not

Not a good picture of this completed quilt but it is the best I have right now. I used bonus pinwheels from another quilt and fabric scraps to make this quilt.  I have decided to name it Waste Not Want Not.  As you can guess it is the Snail Trail block.

I am still here, just be absent for awhile.  I have been busy learning how to run.

My daughter got me into running, she wanted to run a 5K before the year ended last year, asked me do it with her and I thought "How hard can that be".  Well, I found out.  I am overweight, out of shape and never been a runner in my life.  We did the %K and two more since, my time improves each time so I am happy with that.  We have done a 10K and now training for a half marathon.  I will run the half marathon on July 4th.  I have been suffering with shin splints but will persevere and make it even if I have to walk the half marathon.

Needless to say there has not been much sewing between work, running and being a wife, mother, and grandmother.  I hope that changes.  I am happy with this quilt.  It is not a quilt block pattern I care for but I will admit I like how it came out.  I miscalculated the size of the backing and it was one row short so I had to rip one row off to complete quilting the quilt.  I am okay with that as the quilt is still plenty big to fit my bed with ample overhang.  I don't really care for quilts that don't have ample overhang because someone (most likely me) is a blanket hog and the other person ends up with no blanket during the night.

I will  put together orphan blocks for my next quilt  I need to run, I have a training class to attend.

May God Bless you and America.

Wow, that is great about your running! I do NOT like to run one bit, but did speed walk a 5K for my 12 year old nephew this spring to raise awareness for his bone disease. I did it in 45 min, 45 sec and thought that was pretty good. I would not run with shin splints - maybe speed walk. Take care of yourself!!! And I love your scrappy snails! Cheers! Evelyn
