I must be a bit crazy, this is the third quilt I have made this month set on point, sewing on the bias.
Gail's Ghouls the striped fabric was cut on the bias to allow the lines to flow in the proper direction.
Fiddling with Finn the blocks were set on point meaning the sides were bias because of the setting blocks. As with the quilt pictured here. This quilt is not done yet, I am going to make a border to put around and then another black border. I will donate this quilt to American Cancer Society. My tax lady is president of her organization and asks me every year to donate a quilt for their auction in May. The last two years they have given the proceeds of the auction to breast cancer research. This year they have decided to give the proceeds to AIDS research. I decided to make a red/black quilt for this. As stated in a previous post I had all these 4 patches left form the Jacob's Ladder and here is what I have come up with so far. The quilt now measures 42.5x42.5, which means it is not going to be a very large quilt but it will be what it is.
Now onto the other thing. Shalina, on her blog, Shalina's Creations, wrote about making a Shakespeare in the Park. This is one of the quilts I have on my " to do " list. It has actually been there for a couple years now and I have not made one. I offered a challenge to her and she accepted. We are to make our SITP this year, we have a full year to complete it. If anyone else wants to join that would be great. It is a Judy Martin pattern. The pattern is in the Creative Pattern book. You can order the book form her site or purchase it anywhere. It looks like a great pattern. If you happen to read Evelyn's blog, Scrappy Happy Quilts by Starfishy, you have seen her great SITP quilts. She has made some really cool ones.
Well I guess that is about it for tonight. I have sewing to get to. Have a great evening and a good week. Dot

SITP Has been near the top of my list for a couple of years, too! Should this be the year? Have you decided what colors to use? I've seen a lot of the blue/beige ones, so I want to do something different...
Maybe I will join you..I started cutting one LAST January! Only think i will change is the border of stars. They are not my favorite part! I'm using bright batiks...::::digging thru UFOS to find what I cut:::::
great quilt , so nice of you to donate it.
I think we all go thru phases of making quilts on point...something just draws me to that setting for a few months and then its on to a different setting!
I love SITP quilts , someday!
Kathie
My last quilt has all bias edges too and I used Elmer's school glue to hold them in place while sewing. It was fantastic and I had no stretching at all. I heard about using it on an online video about binding quilts and thought I'd give it a try. I'll be using it again for sure.
oh, SITP, I received that book when it was new and always meant to make one...maybe this year I will join the fun. I like how Fiddling with Finn's blocks turned out-nice job! and the black/white AIDS quilt looks great-you have certainly managed to get a lot done Dot
There's just something about how a quilt set on point comes together . . . it really is worth it in the end. Looks great!
I love quilts set on point...they are more difficult and sometimes frustrating, but like Libby said...it is worth it in the end. Yours is proof of that! It is beautiful!!!
Too many quilts, too little time. Hey, isn't there a baby quilt in your future too? ;) I need to search out the SITP pattern. I love JM's Big Bear Log Cabin. Best wishes, Dot!
Tackling bias edges -- you are a brave soul! It looks good, and the Fiddling with Finn quilt is very nice. Thanks for dropping by my blog. I will be back here often!
What a beautiful quilt! You have been a busy, busy girl - I can't believe you find time to knit!
I would love to do that SITP but not this year I'm afraid. I still have four quilts I absolutely have to get done! So why am I sitting here blogging!
I love your black white and red quilt - very striking. I'll have to look at the pattern site as I don't know what Shakespeare in the Park is. Sounds interesting.
What a lovely quilt. You are brave...setting on point.I tend to shy away from them. Colleen
This is so much fun - your challenge has certainly drawn out a lot of challengers.
Your on point quilt looks great. You know, you don't have to work with bias edges on the outside if you use a big square cut diagonally in four for those triangle pieces. Then all the bias will be on the inside.
