She likes her quilt

Remember when I posted the snowball nine patch in November? It was my November 13 post to be exact. Well this is the quilt I made from that snowball pattern. My daughter and her friends have "Sex and the City" days, they sit around and watch the show (she owns it on DVD). They joke on how her mom will provide them with plenty of quilts for this girl bonding time, so I decided to make this for her. And guess what, She likes it. I hit a home run with her this year. She is my most difficult one to buy for. She loves her camera and was surprised by her quilt. She asked me if she was getting a quilt, I guess she wanted one, and when she opened it she was surprised. She said she really didn't expect anything like this. But her smile is big and she says she likes it so I will have to accept her word as truth.
I didn't get many Christmas pictures. I know I have had time off but I can't say I feel like I have had time off. I have been sooo busy with the wedding and having company from out of town I don't know where the time went. I still have much cleaning and rearranging to do before the New Year. I want to get back to sewing also.
Have a great day.

Christmas Decorations?????

While I am cleaning house, to prepare for the holidays and the wedding, I decided to group these unusal decorations togeather. The Korn ragdoll belongs to my son. I gave that to him many years ago when he was "into" the group Korn. When Christmas came around we decided he needed some Christmas cheer so I made him a Santa hat and the poor little fella has had the hat on ever since.

The wind-up nun is from a co-worker from a few years ago. He bought this for me, I guess it reminded him of me, a fire spitting nun. Don't know why but I do know I can spit fire from time to time.

The Christmas cow is from my sister, she gave me this cow in the late 90's when we went to her house in Montana for Christmas. She painted the little bell, it says "I love Mootana". I really like the cow and leave it out all year. Actually all these decorations stay out all year in different areas of the house. I just grouped them togeather for the Holidays and the picture.

Merry Christmas.

A Visitor

I had a very special visitor last night. I never thought I would get a visit form Jack Frost in Portland Oregon but I did. I have lived here for 16 years now, this is the second time in Portland, and can not remember ever seeing Jack Frost on any windows. I went out to the truck this morning to do my errands and I was greeted with this beautiful painting. I decided to go back into the house for my camera as I don't know if I will see this again. I love the pictures he leaves behind when he visits. I often tell the kids while placing sealant material on their teeth that the acid etch will make the top of their teeth look like Jack Frost until I place the sealant material, then I realize they don't know what I am talking about because he doesn't visit us. Until today. No frost on my house windows but a beautiful view on my windsheild.
Just wanted to share.

First Year

Today is one year since I started blogging, so happy blogday to me. I started blogging because I wanted to leave a post on an entry Finn had made on her blog last year. She had posted a cute quilt she made with Santas on it and I was wondering where I might find the pattern. Finn was the first to post on my blog in the comments. She has been a regular with her comments and always filled with much encouragment. The second post on the comments was from Nancy, she was helpful in getting me to post pictures. She also rooted for the Texas Longhorns in the National Championship game, and they beat USC. That was a sad day for me but I still hold Nancy dear in my heart and enjoy her blog and her comments she leaves on mine.

I have enjoyed this year of blogging. I like sharing what I create and it motivates me to be more productive. I have been inspired and challenged by what I have read and seen on the blogs I visit. I want to thank each and everyone of you that take the time to read and comment on this blog. I look forward to another year of growing, learning and sharing. May God continue to bless each of you in your lives and daily adventures.

The picture above is what I have been working on lately to help decorate the house for Christmas. I have been very busy and don't have much decorating done. I am off work now until Jan 2, so that means I will clean and decorate like a mad women. I am not putting a tree up this year. My family will just have to celebrate without a tree, maybe start an new tradition, one I look forward to. The tree is messy and alot of work. I might chabge my mind as grandchildren enter the picture but that is how I feel right now. I best be going and getting busy. Take care and have a blessed day.

Finished but not happy

Well, here it is. This is the quilt I made for the up comming wedding. The colors or should I say color for the wedding is red. I found this pattern in a quilting book, it is called "Stepping Stones", it was featured in the red and white and I loved it. I wish I could say I like the outcome. The pattern is nice, it is easy to follow, the problem is the quilting. I tried and tried to get the tension right and just would not go. I will give the couple the option of keeping the quilt or not. I will make it very clear to them it won't hurt my feelings if they decide not to. If they decide not to I will make them another, if they decide to I will still make them another. I will make it for their first anniversary.

We had an intimate appearel party for the bride- to -be last night. It was so much fun, but I didn't understand the invite. I thought it was going to be a party where the items were purchased at the shower, but, I was supposed to buy an imtimate nighty and bring as a gift. What I fool I am!!!!!!!! Oh well the bride -to- be knows me and thought it was funny I was confused by what I did. I will get her something and give at the next shower on Tuesday night. I guess better late than never.

Not much else. I have a busy day, housework and a Christmas lunch. My mother-in-law is moving into assisted living today, so that leaves my husband and me to clean out her apartment. We plan to start working on that this week-end. She feel on Tuesday and put a good gash in her forhead, fortunately did not break any bones, but her Dr. won't allow her to go back to her apartment by herself, she needs to go into assisted living. It will be a good thing. We have been talking with her about this for a couple years now and now there is no choice. God works in mysterious ways.

Good day to all. Only 10 days to Christmas.
